A few days ago, I woke up to find a huge blanket of fog settling over the land across from us. In it's own eery way, it was quite beautiful. I just enjoyed the quiet, tranquil mood it set before me. I was so taken with it, I didn't even think to take a photo of it. Then it was breakfast, shower, and distractions of the day, as it lifted and went away.

I kept thinking about it later and then decided to make a painting from the memory of it and tried to re-create the feeling I experienced when first viewing it.

I bought a little embossing machine and decided to see if I could incorporate it with my watercolors. It's always fun to try something new. This was another one of those little demo pieces from class that I embossed and then painted a little landscape on it. Quiet summers give you an chance to play and experiment a little.

Since the trees outside my window are bare, I decided to give mine plenty of summer foliage and maybe a feeling of a nice summer day.

My daughter and her husband went to Arizona to see the solar eclipse and while they were there, they saw and photographed the raw beauty of the area. One photo really captured my notice and I was inspired to paint it.

I am so looking forward to to warmer spring days. We had a touch of it yesterday when the temperature rose to 68˚ in the afternoon. The sun was shinning and I was outside with just a sweater. It was so lovely out. Well you know it didn't last, because the evening brought heavy winds and cold weather back again today. It was just a tease!

So my watercolor classes are going very well. I have five beginners and it's a treat to give them some basics with watercolor. We have had three classes and so far we have discussed the different types of paper, use of brushes, and mixing of colors. I have been doing small paintings as examples for class or demos in class.

This one was done on blue watercolor paper.

This one is on a cream color watercolor paper.

Not sure where we will go next week...maybe textures in watercolor painting. We will see. When I get ideas for class, I have to try them out first, so it encourages me to do a lot of painting.
